My WIP novel Rise of The Shadow Lord deals with the effects of war and prejudice on a society and the individual. Each of the major character deal with a different facet, with varying degrees of morality.
This poem helped me to define my theme:
What makes a man good,
What makes a man bad?
What makes a man well,
What makes a man mad?
What indeed? Love, war, hate, peace, faith? These are a questions I don't imagine I can answer fully, but I do address a few of the usual suspects in my novel.

I picked up this book thanks to the suggestion of a friend. I want to read more classic fantasy novels and my friend thought it would be a good fit especially since I have an animal like race in my upcoming novel Rise Of The Shadow Lord.
